This armillary stands about 13" tall with a 5.5" diameter base. It consists of 4 rings that circle a 1" globe with an arrow through the middle that is about 15" long. It has a beautiful antique finish.

Armillary spheres were used to illustrate the relation of the earth to the sun, moon and other celestial bodies. The first models featured a globe in the center to represent earth, but they changed as man's knowledge of the universe expanded.
