Product Description
Subtitled: All Bound For Morningtown (Their EMI Recordings 1964-1968). The Seekers, one of the most popular bands in the UK in the mid-sixties formed in Australia in 1963. Originally a trio comprising of Athol Guy (double bass), Keith Podger (guitar) and Bruce Woodley (guitar), they were later joined by Judith Durham in 1964 who completed what is widely known as the classic line up. Selling millions of albums, and competing with the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the charts, The Seekers' material runs from classic pop to traditional folk ballads along with covers of songs by Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Paxton and Gordon Lightfoot, among others.

Between 1965-1968 The Seekers scored eight Top 20 singles, four of which charted at Number 1. Their debut Number 1, I'll Never Find Another You dislodged The Kinks from the Number 1 spot in February 1965 and made them the first Australian group to ever reach the top of the UK charts. Other Number 1s that followed include: A World of Our Own (which notoriously replaced The Beatles' Ticket To Ride ), The Carnival is Over and Morningtown Ride . It was towards to end of these four successful years together that they achieved their first Number 1 album entitled The Best Of The Seekers which spent three years on the UK chart before the group disbanded in 1968.

The group eventually reformed in 1993 with the original line up and went on the road with their 25 Year Silver Jubilee Reunion Celebration. This proved highly successful and gave way to the group staging several sell-out tours across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. They reunited a final time again for the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games in October 2000 appropriately closing the event with a performance of The Carnival Is Over .

This 4CD selection gathers together the entire catalogue of tracks recorded by The Seekers and Judith Durham between 1964 and 1968. It includes Durham's four solo tracks from 1967; The Olive Tree, The Non-Performing Lion Quickstep, Again And Again and Memories, the latter three making their first appearance on CD. Also included is the recently discovered unreleased track, the 1967 recording of Judith singing Paper Bird with the Bobby Richards Orchestra from The Seen In Green Sessions

Needless to say, All Bound For Morningtown is an eclectic collection of The Seekers' greatest recordings that provides a fantastic journey down memory lane and reminds us why the UK originally fell for this timeless group.
