This battery will only work if you have the shark that has a battery pack that has a separate charging unit. If you have the previous version of this vacuum where the charger plugs directly into the vacuum itself, this replacement battery WILL NOT work
So, if you open the battery compartment and see a yellow batter pack connected directly to two wires you need to call shark directly for a replacement

After doing a simple tweak to this battery, it works very well and holds much more charge than the original provided with the vacuum. The problem on delivery was that the metal tabs in both the Shark vacuum and the Shark charger weren't making any contact with the metal strips on the new battery. As a result, the battery appeared to be dead. I then carefully bent these tabs (on the vacuum and charger) maybe 1/8 of an inch towards the middle to give the battery a tighter fit, and electrical contact was then successfully made between the battery contacts and both the charger and the vacuum. (I googled the problem and that's how I found the solution.) It appears the battery contacts don't quite match the dimensions of the vacuum and charger, but after this easy tweak, it works perfectly!
