I have tried Bristle Magic instead of mineral spirits and it's great. No harsh odor or toxic vapors for me and my students. I use it the same way I use thinner and usually wash my brushes after with warm water and liquid detergent, but between the thinner and then the detergent my brushes tend to get dry bristles. Bristle Magic is not harsh on my brushes and keeps them supple even after I use detergent. It works as a great brush conditioner as well. I am also able to recycle Bristle Magic when the paint sediment settles. I just pour off the good and dispose of the paint sludge the normal way, (that's not biodegradable). Bristle Magic has saved me a lot of money because my brushes last much longer, and it has reduced the toxins in my studio so maybe I will last longer as well. Bristle Magic is amazing for cleaning my paintbrushes. As an oil painter, I have not found anything comparable in any art store that is also non-toxic and does not make me nauseated from vapors.
