Created by tableware designer and gourmet cook Debbie Segura in 2001, Sorrento is perhaps Signature Houseware's most popular dinnerware pattern. Sorrento stoneware suits almost any kitchen décor with its rustic, Italian countryside feel, showing a raised dot and olive leaf patterning on most of the solid-colored, thickly-glazed pieces. Square plates are also available, and bakeware and glassware complete the extensive collection, now available in more than half a dozen colors ranging from neutral suede to bright ruby red. The Sorrento mug is irresistible. Nicely shaped with straight, tapered sides and a large loop handle, the mugs are glazed the same glossy color inside and out, with the signature Sorrento design embossed on the outside: dots in a band along the rim and base, and a square medallion on the side holding an olive branch. All six in the set are identical, and each holds 14 ounces of any hot or cold beverage. The set makes a great gift for a friend, coworker, or newlywed, even if the recipient doesn't have a full table setting of matching Sorrento dinnerware.
