Gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua) stand about 30 tall, weigh between nine and thirteen pounds, and are generally unagressive. Gentoos are the only penguin species with conspicuous white marks on top of the head. The Gentoos back is bluish-black and its bill is yellowish-orange.Gentoo rookeries are found amongst tussock grass or on low hilltops. Two eggs are laid in September and October. Nests are constructed of grass, leaves, twigs, and pebbles. Both parents incubate the eggs for about thirty-three days. Gentoo chicks are fed shrimp and squid by their parents through regurgitation.This is a silver and enamel pin. Master artisans paint each article by hand using solutions containing colored granules of glass. Next, they fire the pieces in a kiln to produce an alluring richness of color. It measures approximately 38mm by 46mm.
