Product Description
Play the Game of Geocaching. Tired of just hiking the same trail? Then Geocaching and Earthcaching, a form of Geocaching, may be exactly what you’re looking for!

Geocaching, pronounced gee-o-cashing, is a game of hiding and seeking treasure that is played worldwide, using a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to “hide and seek treasures” - containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, somewhere in the world.

Earthcaching is a form of geocaching that allows students to explore nature while learning practical lessons about earth science. Educators and others realize that the Earth itself offers its own natural treasures to uncover and endless opportunities for exploration, discovery, and learning.

Geocaching versus Earthcaching - Unlike in geocaching, participants do not travel to sites in search of a physical object placed there by others. Instead, the purpose of earthcaching is to learn about geoscience features by viewing them first hand.

While geocaching can promote a general appreciation of nature, earthcaching enables a more specific understanding of earth science by exposing students to geological features such as volcanic and glacial formations, caves, mineral deposits, and fossils.

Perhaps, then, Earthcaching can best be described as “find and seek natural treasures”
