If your child or student is bright, but has trouble learning to read and write, he or she may have dyslexia. Dyslexia is the most common learning disorder, affecting as many as 10% of our population. Despite the fact that studies have not been able determine the underlying cause, there is plenty of evidence that the condition can be treated with a different approach. As discovered by Samuel Orton, in the early 1900's, children who have dyslexia must be taught to read with a multi-sensory, intensive phonics based program.
