The Fresco Shop at TrueFresco.com is undergoing a fresh beginning. With the advent of our new fresco school in Baltimore and the soon to begin restoration and fresco project at the St. John's Cathedral, and the increasing demand for frescoes around the US, it became essential to create a complete and easily accessible resource for the hard to find fresco art supplies and materials needed by the fresco artist.
The artists at the first Baltimore workshop, held earlier this month, were the first to see some of the authentic fresco products that will become the foundation items that the Fresco Shop will sell.
With the help of Mitchell Nussbaum of Coppola Bros. Company, the renowned Italian plastering firm in Scottsdale, Arizona, TrueFresco.Com Fresco Shop will now be able to deliver these sought after fresco supplies to the beginning artist as well as for professional fresco painter. The Shop will be configured to supply both small and large fresco projects as a one-stop fresco shop.
Mitchell and iLia Anossov, through many long discussions, countless hours of planning, and shipments of supplies and materials from around the world, are to announce the re-opening of the True Fresco Supply Shop this coming month, in September.
One of the products that will be offered will be the finest aged lime putty - 'Calce Florentine' - from the same source in Florence used for the restoration the historic monument at Assisi Chapel, and for creation of contemporary fresco masterpieces such as 'The Albuquerque Fresco' and soon to begin 7,000 square foot fresco cycle at St. John's Cathedral in Baltimore. This wonderfully aged lime putty is imported from Italy and will be available in 10 and 20 Kilo size buckets.
The Fresco Shop will also offer 'Arriccio Lime Putty'. This lime putty is less expensive then imported 'Calce Florentene' but designed and intended only for rough, arriccio and float fresco coats. This Arriccio Lime Putty has gone through seven years of testing through iLia Anossov's fresco projects (iLAdesigns.com) and the Fresco School's workshops before being offered through the TrueFresco.com Fresco Shop. It will be available in 10 and 20 Kilo size buckets.
In addition, authentic fresco brushes, beautifully handcrafted in Italy with string ferrules will become a staple at the Fresco Shop.
For fresco beginner, the Fresco Shop plans to offer a 'Practice Lime Putty.' Although it is not intended for use with actual fresco projects, it has a similar 'touch and feel' during the plastering phase as the aged 'Calce Florentine' lime putty, for only a fraction of the cost. It is perfect for the very first steps in learning and practicing the fresco painting technique and for children's work pieces, before moving on to the proper material.
One new item that they are particularly excited about is the fine fresco pigment sets that they have put together. The Fresco shop will now be selling studio-tested pigments in beautiful hex shaped glass jars that will be available in sets of 12 colors. These are the same pigments that are used in iLia Anossov's spectacular frescos, and his painting workshops.
Complete professional fresco plastering tool kits, pouncing kits, and table easels will also be available. Handmade, ready for plaster, hardwood fresco panels in various sizes will be offered to artists seeking a more stylish background for their frescos.
iLia and Mitchell's approach to this venture has truly been from the heart. Their combined effort and love of this art form has helped them to create an avenue that will make some of the hardest-to-find instruments of all the applied arts, easily accessible to everyone who wants to create true fresco.
